Local councils offer grant support for people with registered disabilities to make accessibility upgrades to their homes, which may include the following:
If they or anyone they reside with is disabled, housing association residents, private tenants, and private homeowners may apply to the local authority for a Disabled Facilities Grant. Landlords can also apply if they have a disabled resident.
You could be qualified if you are registered disabled or eligible to register as disabled, have a low income, and savings of less than £6000. On request, our knowledgeable team members will provide you with additional information.
Your local council will assist you in applying for a disabled bathroom grant. More details and an application can be found by clicking here.
Before making a decision, your local council can arrange for an Occupational Therapist to visit you at home.
If your application is approved, please contact us and we will arrange to meet with you at your home to discuss your bathroom renovation options.
It is based on which local authority you apply to and how long their approval times are. It can take 12-14 weeks on average, but more complex installations can take longer.
Did you know that we can deduct the VAT on our products and installations if you are disabled or over 60 and require a bathroom adaptation to help you live more comfortably? If this applies to you, talk to the surveyor during the home visit and they will happily advise.
If you are accepted and receive provisional approval for a DFG grant, we will assist you with planning permission and design questions.
